What is Forest Circle?
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing is a simple, scientifically proven way of quickly achieving a sense of peace and calm in a way that is accessible and effective for all, without having to have any particular skills or experience. It is a guided process of slowing down and immersing ourselves in the direct experience of Nature through sensory connection. This gentle process helps to calm the mind and naturally arrive in the present moment.
Forest Bathing has many short and long-term health and wellbeing benefits. It improves physical, mental and emotional health, whilst reducing stress and anxiety. It increases positive mood-states, mental clarity and feelings of connection, improves nervous system regulation and immune function and significantly reduces levels of stress hormones, heart-rate variability, symptoms of depression and high blood-pressure.
In my experience of working with hundreds of people with diverse life experiences, all can achieve a sense of calm, ease and wellbeing, including feelings of emotional regulation, self-acceptance and community in just one short Forest Bathing session. With multiple sessions, people report increases in confidence, creativity, centredness and connection and have been able to find more meaning and purpose in their lives.
Forest Bathing is for adults of all ages and groups of all sizes, from individuals looking for personal development and healing to corporate workshops looking for team building and resilience training.
What is Circle?
Forest Circle facilitates sharing and discussion Circles, for groups, communities and businesses. Circle can be used for peace-making and healing, to find direction, explore ideas and themes or simply to foster connection and community.
The unique nature of Forest Circle is that we use simple Forest Bathing practices to ground, reduce anxiety and increase emotional regulation, which encourages healthy communication.
Sitting in a Circle and taking turns to speak and listen is an ancient way of communicating that feels very natural and human when sensitively guided in a natural setting. It can become a safe space to share deeply or to say nothing. In the Circle, all experiences and stories can be included, and all people are welcome. The Circle is non-hierarchical and there is no need for agreement, convincing or fixing. It is a space where everyone can be heard without judgement.
People are supported in feeling comfortable and safe sharing in a group and often, those who are rarely able to find their voice in social situations, find that the container of the Circle enables them to share and contribute in a meaningful way for the first time. The rest of the Circle has the honour of witnessing and supporting this transformation.
Circle in Nature can also be a powerful tool for families, groups and businesses who need to discuss topics that might be challenging or sensitive, or where power dynamics might come into play.
